Web design is much more than just animations jumping from side to side on the screen or spectacular graphics. In fact it is essential to design a website thinking of the experience of the futur users (your customers) and to implement your marketing strategy with your website in order to get attract a lot of visitors. This is web design and development.
The technique with which the website is structured ought to fulfill various demands: the user should find what he/she is looking for in the shortest possible time, by opening few pages, with a shortest waiting time, without compatibility problems and always having everything under control.
There are a lot of websites with a spectacular design, but on which the desired information cannot be found. Or those sites made entirely with Flash technology and extraordinary animations that never end loading, or that open in full screen and hinder us to use the browser buttons (back or forward). Or sites that force us to go through several pages before getting through to our destination or that prevent us from freely jumpinig between different pages because they do not have a second-level menu.
There are many flaws in the design, and very seldom the target market is considered. Primarily simplicity, attractive designs but no "fireworks", never design the entire site with Flash, menus are to be always visible, don't abuse effects.
After defining the usability of the website the marketing strategy ought to be developed, that is, to think how to attract visitors to my site. To this end there are two players: internal and external.Para ello existen dos actores: el interno y el externo.
External refers to the same company and the most common techniques are to include the web address in the Yellow Pages and in all documents of the company directing customers to the website, mailing lists, etc.
Internal is the company's task which designs a website, a task that is invisible to the customer and it is vital to attract visitors: we are talking about implementing the site in the major search engines. For this purpose labels with information are to be defined that will help the search engines to put the site in top positions in the search results. These labels are for exampe adescription of the site, keywords, title of each page, etc.
The latter is a detail that is out of customer's sight, but is a crucial factor when it comes to evaluate the website's success. Notably, the inclusion and positioning in the search engines is a task that requires several months, but a good handling of labels implies a lot of visits.
